Ched Myers in Melbourne, 9 July

Something worth making space for in your diary six months hence: Ched Myers’ call to discipleship. Spend 9 July at the UCA’s Centre for Theology and Ministry (CTM) in Parkville and be “encouraged, inspired and equipped” for “socially engaged discipleship.”

Ched Myers is a US Biblical scholar engaged with restorative justice, peace-making, biblical economics and socio-political nature of the good news. His books include Binding the Strong Man: A Political Reading of Mark’s Story of Jesus (1988) and Who Will Roll Away the Stone? Discipleship Queries for First World Christians (1994). He challenges both liberal and conservative Christians to embrace radical discipleship.

To see him teaching in Australia in 1995, go to YouTube and type in ‘Ched Myers.’ Paul Dyson has posted footage of Myers addressing the Parable of the Sower, the Parable of the Tenants and the question, ‘Who, then, can be saved?’

The CTM is at 1 Morrison Close, Parkville. Phone 9340 8815 for more info.
