Today was very special in the life of the Church of All Nations, with the naming of the Fullerton Chapel. Here is an excerpt from the liturgy, courtesy of John and Andrew:
Prayer
Living God,
you are present everywhere
in heaven and on earth,
and your glory rests on places
where you have set your name.
Continue to bless this place
dedicated to your worship and service.
May what we do this day
be to your honour and glory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Question to the Congregation
Minister: By what name shall we call this chapel?
Congregation: We shall name it, the Fullerton Chapel.
Minister: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, I declare that henceforth this chapel will be known as the Fullerton Chapel.
Congregation: Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning is now,
And will be for ever. Amen
The plaque is unveiled by Doug and Ethel. The people applaud.
Prayer
Gracious God, you have built your church on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the corner stone. Down the ages your saints have worshipped and served you. In latter days Doug and Ethel have faithfully been Christ’s disciples. They have freely and generously shared their gifts and graces with this community of Christ’s followers, and through your church and this suburb of Carlton.
For this we give you thanks and praise.
May their story, their name, inspire others, and we pray that this place may be a witness to your redeeming love.
Confirm and bless what we have now done in your name this day. May the Fullerton Chapel be a place of inspiration and peace; a place where your gospel is preached and heard; where your sacraments are celebrated; and where lives are transformed.
Merciful God, bless and sustain Ethel and Doug as they continue to serve you. Be with them in this their time of need;
Through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
