CAN features in Church press

Church of All Nations and its members enjoyed an elevated profile in the April edition of the UCA newspaper Crosslight.

First up (p2) was due recognition of CAN member Brian Howe for his Australia Day honour. He is pictured holding a copy of his new book, Weighing Up Australian Values: Balancing Transitions and Risks to Work and Family in Modern Australia, published last year by UNSW Press ($29.95).

Prominently on page 3 of April Crosslight was coverage of John’s proposal for a public holiday to promote reconciliation. His idea was picked up by major radio, print and online media and debated on Sunrise. Watch the letters page of Crosslight to see if it promotes any in-house discussion.

Then on page 4, Brunswick local Clare Boyd-Macrae covered the donation to CAN Community Support of more than $1,000 worth of foodstuffs by Sikh community-service organisation Sikhcess. A reader of the online version of Crosslight applauded the positive portrayal of Sikhs in the media.

Over on page 15 is an open invitation to attend Doug Fullerton’s 90th birthday service at 10am on 20 April.

Underneath that is mention of a forthcoming lecture series at St Aidan’s UC in North Balwyn where, on 25 May, Olivia will be speaking on the subject of ‘Human Rights and the Environment’.
