We have been praying for our neighbours in Burma suffering devastation beyond our imagination since Cyclone Nargis hit on 2 May. The National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) is appealling for donations in order to contribute to the ‘massive and immediate’ aid needed. Please give online or phone 1800 025 101.
There are immense obstacles to recovery, however, not least of them political. The notorious military junta ruling Burma is hindering international efforts to assist cyclone victims, threatening the lives of thousands more people from malnutrition, communicable diseases and exposure to the elements.
You may like to voice your concerns to the Burmese (Myanmar) Ambassador to Australia with the assistance of this Amnesty International e-mail campaign.
